i'm having low voltage downlighters installed in the kitchen along 2 walls, plus a central pendant and a light in the ingglenook. i was hoping to use a dimmer for the downlighters and 2 switches for the pendanat and inglenook. on going to order them yesterday i was told not to waste my money on dimmers as they are all of poor quality, would begin to hum ater a while and lead to problems. the guy at the shop said that no-one really bothers with them any more.

That is true of cheap dimmers, but the more expensive ones should be ok!0
