                    Hello you lovely lot.
I am in need of inspiration.
My half term homework (son's but mine too!) is to make a Mummy's coffin.
Is there any form of food packaging out there that is shaped like a coffin to help me out.
It needs to hold a Mummy inside (I was thinking of a Sindy Doll covered in bandages although other ideas are gratefully received)
If there isn't a food packaging available, any ideas how to make it?
Thanks

Just did a quick google and it looks like the mummies sarcophagus fits around the mummie inside it:

So maybe the first thing would be to make the mummie, and then either try and bend a bit of cardboard or something around it, or just go for a cylindrical shape and decorate the top?0

I'd do papier mache over one of the long balloons you can get. You could use a hairband over one end to make the head/shoulder area shape."Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."...Miss piggy0

Get an old barbie/cheap one out a poundshop. Paper Mache around it, maybe cover in cotton wool first/something to allow room for the Mummy.
Cut it off with a stanley (you of course would do this bit). Get some gold paint and decorate as such. Then place old barbie wrapped in cloth/muslim cloth. Teabag stain it for an old effect Then place old barbie wrapped in cloth/muslim cloth. Teabag stain it for an old effect 0 0

Make a slightly larger one of the top.
Plasticine could make a good mummy? Wrap him in a little bandage for effect.
Or papier mache as other people have said. Could use plain white kitchen roll though, he'll be solid then just scrunch and plenty of PVA. 0 just scrunch and plenty of PVA. 0

            This
 http://education.cambridge.org/media/200326/ilw_teachernotes.pdf
gives instructions on Page 11 for making a really fancy sarcophagus from a Prinles or breadstick box. It'll be time consuming but fun if you have the time!
If you just want a plain (ish) wooden coffin then I'd recommend balsa wood and make a mummy from plasticeine and bandages.0

Why is this your homework and not your son's?
Will you be informing his teacher of the help you received in the completion of the task on his behalf?0
