orange upgrade....

I agreed to an orange upgrade as I feel I have a good package and I am happy with that, although from time to time NOT happy with their customer service....
So I agree to the upgrade, it is all sorted, they took details (which they already have) and prepared to send me the new phone telling me my exisiting mobile will cease to operate after 72 hours and to move all my contact numbers to the new one. New upgrade phone arrives, within a couple of hours I notice my exisiting mobile has been rendered useless (switched off with 'no service' message on the screen) Go to set up the new one only to find that a message comes up 'sim registration failed'...so without a mobile phone.....went to call orange via a landline, which is expensive to do, plus was kept on the line only to be told after 7 minutes that the office was closed after being told to wait as they were experiencing a large volume of calls....rang again today quicker way to get through is to not press any numbers you are prompted to, ah! not with orange they simply say 'your call cannot be taken' or similar....rang them again after 15 minutes finally got through to be asked all of the same things which I'd already been asked and had to key in...finally the person said that 'it takes time for the new sim card to be activated'......and that it could be up to 24 hours...
In the meantime regarding early upgrades I have had 34 calls and counting, each asking me if I want to upgrade....after telling each one that I have already upgraded and that is the end of the matter, they keep calling ...and calling...and calling...I have given up telling them that I have upgraded, and have acted suprised/pleased/eager and have said yes I will upgrade ...now I have a further few phones being dispatched to me....and I will wait to see what thy do then when they realise their mistake...has anybody else had this happen,? its like there is lack of liaison between colleagues/departments/subsidiary companies...or all being hell bent on getting their commission despite it already being sorted out...I can't quite believe it...I never had this before with an update although previously I noticed they are pretty fast to switch you off leaving one with no mobile for about a day until you call 150 from another persons orange phone to tell them....

I bet you quite a lot of money that some or all of the people that called you about upgrades weren't actually from orange but were from mobile phone selling companies. You may find yourself in a few problems if you get several phones, frankly you were pretty foolish to start saying yes, regardless of the sellting pressure.0

yess...point taken vuvuzela, however, so far two have since been delivered and just left (safely) in the porchway, unsigned for....
They callers were from, 'store mobile' this was verified by myself via a return call, ditto 'esave', and one was 'orange upgrades', all of whom had my entire details regarding my orange plan some claimed to be subsidiaries of orange...sister companies.
I had already started to say 'no I have been sorted out thank you it is sorted I don't need another one, etc etc' so many times that in the end I thought 'sod it, they are not interested so I shall play them at their own game'...the calls came at very inconvenient times as well...and actually are continuing to do...this has continued for the third or 4th week now by the way...0 -
I think you've left yourself in for a hell of a lot of sorting out. Store and esave are nothing to do with Orange and you need to get them returned asap or bills will mount - they will likely have set you up on new contracts too, not proper upgrades.0

I would return all the phones asap or you will be in a heap of a mess0

Checking your credit rating may be a good idea also. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Thanks for replies, it gets more ridiculous by the day, 'someone' has turned off my original handset.....plus the sim card won't work in the first phone received (the upgrade) therefore no working mobile....then the calls are continuing (since *) with an number beginning 020 still asking if I want a new phone.....I have been in to the orange shop to find out what is going on...they said I must go to the carphone warehouse to ask them! (presumably that is who has 'poached me'....) Orange said, as a goodwill gesture they have credited my account with a ten pound credit because I have had no mobile usage for a few days....then he said he would up it to £20.....due to my inconvenience of having to go to carphone warehouse.
*Then I heard my old phone - the message alert tune...! several messages had started coming through and it has been switched back on......curiouser and curiouser....0 -
unholyangel - why do you recommend I check my credit rating?0

Latest is, no more mobiles have arrived although the 'would you like to upgrade the phone' calls continue - one caller said that if i did not upgrade with THEM then my orange contract would be 'switched off and I would lose my number' as of two days ago, this hasn't happened though it may, and my new handset has been mysteriously transfered to my exisitng number without the need to go to carphone warehouse as had been instructed by orange customer care..my old phone has again been switched off. In the meantime I have now been bombarded with 'red claims company' (ppi mis sold) phone calls...they know my full name..now who could have given them this info? Orange? as clearly they are giving out my details to companies flogging mobiles to keep with orange...interesting, ha?0
