I am ikea mad so felt a bit sheepish when i ordered a lovely looking and not cheap sideboard from argos. I love putting together ikea stuff it is easy and straitfoward so i knew i had done wrong when i pulled out the instruction pack for the argos SB It was rediculously difficult and aboutas !!!! backwards as it gets. None the less i marched ahed and finished it eventually and to be honest i hated it from that moment due to the hassle it had caused. Over time it really went wrong it warped horribly and just began to split. It really is not worth the hassle.
VickyThe glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D

I've got some cheap imitation pine bedroom furniture which is still going strong after 10 years. I've also got some solid pine bedroom furniture 5 years ago which apart from a few wobbly handles and the backs of the wardrobes bending out are fine.
If anyone has bought any White Virginia wardrobes from Argos I would be interested to know as I was thinking of getting that for my dd's bedroom.

Our DD has got this in the triple .It belonged to our niece prior to that. The wardrobe has been in constant use for about 4 years and taken down and rebuilt to erect in house. We are unable to fault the quality.Still very sturdy .0 -
Thanks to all for your detailed responses - was just about to click the button and pur-chase from the Greek God of Cheap Retail. Think I'll stick with the slightly classier Nordic God IKEA. Failing that, I'll carve my own. Alright, I lie. The Nordic God it is.0

We decided to go for a new king size nordic pine bed frame and mattress package from Argos a few weeks back....................NIGHTMARE!
Although we are very pleased with the quality of the mattress, the bed frame was an absolute headache to build. Took about 6 hours over two evenings to make up due to very shoddy materials. Badly drilled holes, loose fitting dowels, flimsy metal fastenings, some that broke when tightened, screws that were bent. One of the pine slats has already broken due to there being a great big knot right in the middle. The only positive thing i could say was the instructions were actually well written, shame about the actual bed.
I'm just hoping we dont have to move house in the near future, as there is no way it will be dismantled. Its in that room for the rest of its life!!
I've made up quite a lot of flat pack furniture from Ikea, B&Q etc, and have had nothing like any problems experienced with this one. I for one will not be buying anymore flatpack stuff from Argos!
I am in the process of buying my first bed, and having searched high and low, finally found one that suited my needs and taste..

Checked MSE for reviews and opinions and felt deflated by the post quoted above.
Does anyone know where I may be able to find a good quality, affordable wooded bed frame with storage and the little flat 'shelf' bit around the edge of the bed?0 -
Another negative vote for any flat packed Argos furniture, its appaling, really bad.
We bought a 2 drawered, 2 cupboard unit which said solid pine in the description but was pine laminate. We put it together and once the drawers were in they would not come out and one overlapped the other! Swapped them over and it was even worse!.
If they were giving Argos flat packed furniture away I would avoid it, go for ikea.0 -
STAY WELL CLEAR!!!! Had nothing but problems especially when hiome delivery only. Ordered a dining table n 4 chairs. Took day off to take delivery and they never showed up. Then organised another day and when it turned up there was parts missing, they then said they don't stock this furniture and offered really cheap and nasty alternative, after taking a third days annual leave day off for them to pick up shoddy furniture I got my money back but none of my lost holidays and no dining table, THEY ARE PANTS!!!!
Better going local and paying that little extra, worth it in the long run.0 -
Another neg from me also.
Couple of years ago ordered a table and chair set of t'internet. Delivery fine, but when putting table together noticed that the top was a different shade to the legs, also that the chair legs were another shade. Customer services contacted and they sent out a replacement - same again, 3 different shades. Gave up, sent it back for refund - as with many - avoid.0
