Preparing wall for painting

Hi guys,
I've been reading through so many helpful threads but in the end I think I've confused myself.
I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. Basically I've just moved into a new home, the bedroom had wallpaper which I've taken down pretty easily and the walls behind lit ook pretty good, clearly its never been painted on before, just needs the odd crack filling. My question is what do I need to do in order to prepare the wall for painting? Do I require an undercoat and if so how would you recommend I do this, what product/s would I use? Once its been prepared I plan on using dulux trade paint as so many of you recommend it. TIA!

Once you have filled and sanded the cracks over, Prime the wall bythinning your first coat of paint down with about 25% - 33% water. It will probably say on the tin how much water. This will seal the walls nicely.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
