Jobseakers allowance and arrears

my son has been unemployed for a while and has been claiming jobseakers for himslef and his partner. He has now decided to go self employed as of last Friday, 19/10/2012, which would of been his signing day, but he signed off on 18/10/2012. He thought that his jsa was paid in arrears so he would be owing a payment, but when he checked his bank account today 22/10/2012 nothing has gone into his bank. today would of been his normal day for recieving his benefit. Is he not due anymore money from jsa.
Thank you
