help electrical problem

Hi have got a fridge of freecycle but the owner has cut the plug off but left hardly any lead to wire in another plug.Can i try to strip it back and fit connecters to connect the lead has anyone got any ideas to help please.

    how easy is it to get to the termination at the back of the fridge.? i would suggest replacing the whole cable if that is possible.

    If not the best option is to use a connector that has it's own housing like this
