Petrol Hedge Trimmer

Hi there,

I am looking to buy some petrol tools for my garden and I found this one

Ryobi RBC30KIT
• 30cc engine with hard chrome plated cylinder for more durability and heavy duty clutch for optimum power transfer
• Soft grip Ergo handle for added safety and less vibration
• High quality powder coated shaft for greater durability
• Reel-Easy™ head – innovative ‘Thread and Load’ system for rapid line feed
• Tri-arc™ cutting blade
• GripZone™ overmould technology for improved comfort with a
positive grip

APR04 Pruner Attachment
• AHF04 Hedge Attachment
• AEX03 Extension Attachmen
t

Do you know if this product is any good?

I mention that I need all 3 accessories for my garden as it is overgrown and in need of a lot of work.

If you recently researched similar products I will be glad to hear from you as I am totally confused and I do not have a lot of experience in gardening. I have a limited budged but I can stretch it for a better product (that will last longer and in the end will save me money)

Thank you

I've not used that product but I have a lot of Ryobi products and they have all been very good quality.

I have the electric cordless hedge trimmer and I much prefer that to any petrol version. I have a lot of hedge to trim and it keeps going, but we aren't talking thick branches here.

The potential pitfall with any petrol-driven garden appliance is 1) noise, and 2) weight-can you lift and hold it comfortably for as long as required?

    I don't know about the RBC30KIT.

I've owned some of the cheaper 25cc Ryobi products, and used them for strimming and hedge trimming. I'd say they were good value, and suitable for moderately heavy DIY use. They do have design weaknesses and iritating quirks, but the prices are quite low. For example, on my current strimmer, the air intake cover sometimes falls off, and the tiny fuel tank only lasts 20 minutes. My previous Ryobi strimmer was hard to start. For DIY use, I think think these shortcomings are acceptable given the price.

I don't think it's worth spending more for intermittent DIY use.

I have both the AHF-03 and AHF-04 hedge trimmer attachments. The AHF-04 is better, being sturdier and having larger gaps between the teeth, allowing it to cut quite thick branches, maybe up to around 1cm.

I've got one of the AEX03 extension attachements as well. It works, but is very tiring to use because of the extra leverage involved. It's very good upper-body exercise though.
