Orange Router problem

HI
I have been with Orange for years and previously never had any problem that I could not deal with myself.
However, now I have had no end of problems. The service has been very erratic and now I cannot log on to Orange at all.
I have two different routers, one of them an old SAR 715 that has been excellent over the years. I also have a Netgear DGN 2200.
When I phoned Orange last Sunday, I had some difficulty understanding the advisor but basically he told me to remove my details from the login of the Netgear router and to insert bt_test_user@fs. I did this and somehow got an internet connection. (Dont ask me how as I had to put the phone down).
If I now input my correct login details (user-name) I cannot get an internet connection. If I input the bt_test_user@fs as a log-in then I do seem to get on-line but cannot access my own account because when I change the login back to my own user-name I lose the connection.
Sorry if this is not very clear but I cannot get through to Orange as "All our advisors are very busy at the moment". I am managing to get on line to write this using my mobile mifi broadband.
Would be very grateful for any thoughts you may have on this. I am hoping I may get through to Orange a bit later before they close at 11pm.
