snazzy shoelaces? There are so many patterned (sp? - looks wrong)ones now or curly elastic type?0

Just thought - how about a tape measure? I know it sounds odd, but my son loves measuring things. I don't let him measure my waist though :rotfl:0

If you haven't already brought the boxes on the let it snow thread we have just been discussing some bags from ikea which may work better as they look slightly larger so bigger things could go in them Hawkins bazaar has some great bits in I got lots in the sale in the summer which would work but also means I can put an apple in and healthy bits with a note from Santa like make sure you eat your apple etc0

Oh I like them!
Oh my, best add me to the list of people who are considering driving for miles to get £2 bags. :rotfl:
They do seem more practical size wise.
I never thought about fruit either! Good idea. Small boxes of raisins and some lunch box size packets of dried fruit like banana chips etc. He could eat those instead of chocolate etc and would still be getting something to put in his mouth iyswim.
I'm warming to the theme now. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
He used to love Lego
What we did for our son was buy a lego set, make it up, then split it down into 24 piles so that a little could me made and added to each day.
Well... that was our grand idea only we put them all in reverse so he had nothing but a pile until Christmas Eve!!!!!!0 -
I've been shopping for stocking fillers today, and have a few more ideas. I'm not sure how suitable they are, but here goes!
One of those springy things. You're supposed to make them go down the stairs, but I've never managed it. I think they were in Card Factory.
Small snow globe - 99p from Card Factory
Musical tie from pound shop
Calendar - my son is quite obsesive about what day it is. He doesn't understand dates, but he knows the days of the week. 59p from Card Factory, or two for £1. Two for £1 from the pound shop - I managed to get one with endangered animals on, and animals are my son's biggest obsession.
How about craft kits? There are several in the pound shops.
Mini pots of custard or rice pudding
Travel toothbrush (the sort that splits into two and you put the brush part inside the handle)
Mini Cheddars0 -
I must be a 'not-very-nice' person because I tend to let my warped sense of humour have free reign at times when a gift is required
One year I had put us on a healthy eating stint with brown bread & diet spread. No1 Offspring adored the white bread & butter they had at Nanny's, so for a laugh I wrapped up a loaf & pack of butter. Something I hadn't expected tho, was the squeal of absolute delight & a memory for years to come, & no recollection of the real gift.
You haven't said how od your son is, so not sure if my suggestion would be appropriate. I would wrap up a single sock for one day, then the second of the pair for another so you would get two days worth of gifts out of one pair of socks/ gloves etc. It's as much a :money: as a comical twist, if you see what I mean?
Another idea is to go for a walk as a family, maybe along the beach, & pick up some odd shaped stones or pebbles. Either you decorate them & add the date of the walk, or let your kiddies do it with felt tips from another advent window & it will be a keepsake of the most precious gift of all--time spent together. Cover them in pVa glue & let it dry to varnish their artwork & protect it for years to come. HTH x

We have a 3ft Christmas Tree, and the kids have a decoration in each pocket of an advent calendar. Day 1 and the tree looks pitiful, by Christmas Day we have a very tacky, overdressed tree to use as a centrepiece for dinner!
The kids love it, we've accumulated loads of little decs now for it, so a random selection goes in the advent calendars.0 -
That's bad. :rotfl:
I like it.Then when she opened the other, we told her they were BOGOF too :rotfl:
