    Fair point. The issue is what is fair. To me I think the OP could get 4 figures.
    Clearly the B/S want to see just how little they can get away with.

    Any payout will be a full and final settlement, unless the OP puts in a good case that if in the future they may comeback on the basis that the issue has now devolped due to the error that requires a larger settlement to cover cost for legal action.

    The issue will have been raised internally to the buissness risk manager. Who will have to act on it.
    It will have to be reported to the ICO or they will face a much larger sanction for trying to sweep it under the carpet.
    We even have to report putting something as simple as a wrong card/acc numer on a customers account...
