Hi all!

For cost purposes and to give myself a bit more independence I am thinking of getting a moped. However, I have never been on one before – are there places where you can have a test drive before you have to fork out for the CBT etc?

I would hate to waste £100+ doing the course only to find mopeds aren’t for me!!

Any bike dealer that does CBT will have off road facilities and may let you loose on one of their used mopeds

Most of them are twist and go automatics. nothing to them. If you can live with the lower speeds and getting wet when it rains you'll be fine.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Most schools will offer a 1 hour taster session, the one I did my CBT at practically insisted on it, I wasn't sure, but went along anyway and it did benefit me, I was let loose on a 50cc twist and go, and when I went for my CBT I had a small idea of how the thing worked and how to get it to go in a straight line and turn corners.

I didn't finish my first CBT as I got ill part way through the day, but when I went back to have another go, they put me on a 125cc that time, and I have to say that it felt better, so much so that I now have my own 125.

The difference between them is noticable, and it does feel somewhat safer on a 125.
