Hi all I was wondering if somebody can help I've recently applied to several company's to reclaim my ppi and have just received a letter off northen rock saying that they have contacted the insurer of the ppi (cardiff pinnacle) who have done a detailed search and cant find a policy with my name on it. I remember having some paper work from cardiff pinnacle but cant find anything with the name or logo on it. I've spent all morning searching and cant find anything. Is there anything else I can do?

If neither you nor the insurer can find any records it's the end of the line for your "complaint".0

i'm afraid it looks that way its just bugging me so much that i have seen some paperwork with the name on it i also remember seeing their logo as well (I've been on their website). Why would they say they haven't heard from me? Are they just hoping that I cant get hold of any papers so they haven't got to pay out? Has anybody else been in my situation how did you resolve it( if you did)?0

You do realise that, even if you found your documentation, there are no guarantees that your complaint would be upheld? Why would they say they haven't heard from me? Are they just hoping that I cant get hold of any papers so they haven't got to pay out?
Simply having PPI is not a valid complaint!
Financial institutions typically keep records for six years. I'm assuming your policy is far older than that?0 -

Because they have destroyed the records that they held about you in line with the Data Protection Act.
If you have your own paperwork, they will look at it, but without some sort of proof that you paid it, either from statements, or from initial paperwork, then you don't have proof and neither do they.
Besides, you complain to whoever sold you the policy, so if you had a loan with Northern Rock, you complain to them, not to Cardiff Pinnacle.
If northern rock have no paperwork/data, you can either send a SAR along with £10 to find out what paperwork/data they still have, and possibly waste £10 in the process, or accept that you can't prove you had PPI sold by them to you.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
If you used a mortgage broker/adviser then NR wouldnt have any records anyway as the broker/adviser has the records.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
