Yes Car Credit - some guidance please

Hello,
I am looking into PPI and all the other companies have been fairly straight forward to resolve. I have read about Yes Car and understand they are pre - FSA, so I would like some guidance to the appropriate way to go about reclaiming.
I was working part time and at university when I took out the loan. I do not know if I had any PPI on the loan and I am starting to wonder if when I paid the loan off in lump, that the hugely extortionate settlement figure included PPI.
I have read other posts but understand with Yes Car Credit I may need to take another approach as they are just a trading company now.
So I understand first I send a SAR letter?
