Oil Watchman

Hope someone here can help - an elderly neighbour has had some work done to her oil fired central heating, including the fitting of an oil watchman.
The plumber told her to leave the unit switched on all the time but plugged it in next to her kettle, and of course she has inadvertently turned it off.
When it is switched back on it scrolls the numbers on the display and then flashes on and off.
There are no buttons on the inside unit to try a reset and no instructions were left, so can anyone advise how to get it back to normal - she says it indicates a steady figure which refers to the amount of oil left in the tank measured in tenths.
Regards

WATCHMAN RESET INSTRUCTIONS
1. Switch off the Watchman Display
2. Unscrew the copper tube battery from the transmitter.
3. Pause for 5 minutes.
4. Switch on the Watchman display.
5. Reattach the copper tube battery.
This will reset your watchman. Within the hour, the Watchman should display the fluid level in your tank.0 -
As above, mine NEVER works properly so I'm always resetting it just to get an idea for about half hour of my oil level. I also had no instructions so bookmarked them. The bookmark is for the Niveau but seems OK for mine which is just marked "Watchman"
Watchman InstructionsThe best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0 -
Thanks for the replies - I'll have a try at resetting tomorrow.
