Utility Warehouse exit
I have been with Utility Warehouse, telecom plus for 3 years.
after they failed to read my meter and then took £1k out of muy a/c i have decided to part company.
i agreed a payment plan over 12 months but they won't agree to a transfer to a new supplier whilst they are owed money. they say they are legally entitled to do this....are they correct?
help please

Only if they had advised you in writing first. They can NOT just debit 1k form your a/c without any warning.

Taff
When you sign up for them you usually have to supply your debit or credit card details, and their distributors dont all point out to you that if you owe them any money,by agreeing to their t&c ,they can collect any arrears using your card.:eek:0 -

It's even worse than that.
Their "club" rules which you must agree to allow them to take money from any debit/credit card they have the details of even for current bills which you want to dispute - and have requested your bank to not pay any direct debit requested from the UW.
As soon as the direct debit is refused they go straight for any other card they know about to get the money - even if they know the bill is in dispute.

It might work out cheaper to get a bank loan to pay them off now so you can escape and get cheaper energy elsewhere.0 -
