Car NCD - how does it normally work at higher levels?

Hi
I joined QuoteMeHappy with 7 years NCD last year, and am now coming up to renewal. I have quite a tight deadline for getting cashback on a new policy elsewhere, but do not know how many years NCD they will offer as "proof" when they quote renewal .... but I need to know now.
Would I generally be told I have 8 years, or do firms such as QMH only say 5 years because that is the maximum discount they offer?
My common sense would say it should be 8 years, but I know categorically that a long time ago I was in this situation and my proof only came back as 5 years. Stupidly, I did not challenge it at the time so do not know if it was an error

Traditionally insurers maxed out NCD at 5 years and so anything above 5 was pointless. There are now some insurers that give their maximum discount at 9 years (not aware that there are any that go above 9 anyway)
Dont however fall into the marketing trap!!!!
Just because the NCD maxes out at 9 years doesnt actually mean the percentage discount is any more than the insurers that max out at 5 years. For example with one insurer in year 4 you got 60% discount and in year 5 you got 70%. With another your year 4 discount was also 60% but for year 5-9 you add 1% per year and so when you got to max 9 years then your only at 65%0 -
Hi, I believe Quotemehappy are part of Aviva and Aviva only quote up to 5 years on the renewal paperwork.0

Hi gwapenut
Thanks for your post. I have spoken to our Quotemehappy team with regards to your query and they have asked if you can email them at team@quotemehappy.com they can confirm the NCD amount for you. In your email can you please include your full name, date of birth, post code and policy number as this information will greatly increase the speed in which they can answer your query.
I hope that helps and that we can get this resolved for you soon.
Kind regards
Dave0
