HB / CTB Weekly?

Sorry - didn't want to hijack the other thread, but if CTB is paid on a weekly basis, is HB?

The reason I ask is that I closed my claims last week because of partner moving in but was later advised that we would be able to claim a little bit towards it given our projected low income.

This is his first week of self employment and he has a bit of work in a few weeks time but that's it for now. The time sheets I have to take in to the office weekly will show zero income while he chases jobs.

Tax credits will take ages to sort out with their systems being down and I'm scared! My supermarket savings stamps will feed us but they won't pay the rent. I realise that we will get behind waiting for things to be processed, but it would be nice to know housing and CT might be covered until we get up and running.

Thanks.

Council Tax Benefit is actually paid in a large chunk to cover you from the date your claim starts to 31/3/?? (end of the Ctax year).

Housing Benefit is worked out weekly but normally paid 4 weekly for private and housing association tenants and weekly for council tenants.

If your partner has no income at the moment then you should receive help towards your rent. Once Tax Credits is sorted this will be input into your claim.

I'm not sure how your council work but my Benefits Section ask for self-employment details very 3 or 6 mths depending on the type of work and whether there will be large fluctuations.
