Can you balance transfer on credit cards between family members?

I need to transfer the balance of an HSBC credit card that I got when I was a student. Now that I have graduated and have a good job I thought I would be in a better position to apply for other credit cards but, it turns out I was wrong. I recently applied for the Texaco card with a 3.9% life of balance interest rate but got rejected (for no major reason as far as I can see except that I was student and obviously have lots of debt) and don't really want to try with any other cards incase this really affects my Experian report. (Please note there is a thread by Rudehamster about the problems people have been having with applying to Texaco recently, it isn't just me!)
Is it possible for my dad (who has wonderfully agreed to help me out, and I can't thank him enough) to apply for a credit card, say a 9 month 0% intrest one on bt's and transfer the balance from my credit card to this new one of his?
Thank you,
Jo (paying way too much interest and need to sort it out!)

Hi, yes your Dad can transfer the balance onto his card. When you request a balance transfer the card company doesn't care who the card belongs to, all they need is the card number.0
