Winning Bidder Pulled Out 5 Minutes After Auction End

I had 2 tickets I was selling on ebay. The bid finished at 720pm tonight and around 730pm I got this email from the winning bidder:
"Sorry for this, it was my mistake to not thoroughly enough to know that it is theseparate seats... Very sorry, please dont punish me on ebay"
I take it he/she has pulled out of the auction. From the email address its very clearly a foreign person so I don't know if they are male or female. What do I do now - I read this after invoicing them.
Can I do a second bid chance thing or would I be better readvertising and do I have to wait. Didn't realise it was so much hassle selling on ebay!
thanks

Ask them if they wish to cancel the transaction. Then send them a cancelation request. You should get your fees back if they agree to cancel, which they should do by the sounds of it. Then offer it to the next highest bidder, unless you have time to relist them and maybe get a higher price?0

Be awar ethough that if you do a mutual and they disagree you will lose your FVfs and they get to leave you feedback still.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sounds as though it may be a genuine mistake.
Send him a cancellation request and tell him that he needs to ACCEPT the cancellation.0 -
I have sent him the cancel request and he says he doesnt want to cancel he now wants to buy one of the tickets at half the price?? I have emailed back saying I do not wish to sell them individually and for him to complete the cancellation request. There were several other bidders can I now offer it to the 2nd highest bidder as obviously he is not going to buy the 2 which is what the offer was for. Don't think I will ever sell again on ebay this has totally put me off. thanks.0

Unfortunately, if the posters on this forum are anything to go by, your second bidder will accuse you of shill bidding....0

This could have backfired. As Soolin said - some buyers ask to cancel - then deny your request, knowing this stops you filing for none payment. Some then even leave a neg.
Its time Ebay allowed buyers to make the cancellation request themselves AND barred feedback where payment was not made or claim as been opened.0 -

I do tend to agree- maybe there should be a 3rd option- for buyers to initiate a cancellation request which sellers have to agree to for the transaction to end. That would mean sellers don't los eout on time wasters who don't want to pay, btut also don't risk opening a mutual on a buyer that then declines.
I can see an awful lot of flaws with the suggestion though and also a number of ways it could be abused- but we do need something.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
