Landlord now refusing to install shower, after first agreeing

Hello All
I am hoping for some advice ,we looked at a property that we like but the pace had part of a shower but was broken.Shower was documented in the description of amenaties in the house. We agreed to rent a property with letting agency on the premise that the landlord would fix the shower before we moved in which would be a week after we agreed to rent,to which the landlord agreed there and then on the phone.
A week later we moved into the rented property in August and the shower was not fixed but the shower was in a nice box in the bath. After repeated calls to the landlord who continued to say "it's very hard to find a good plummer" ,after about a month of this we sent a recorded letter to state if the shower was not fixed within one month we would find a plummer ourselfs and then bill them and take money of the rent.
A few days later we had a call from the landlord she finally found a plummer to come around, after being stood up a few times and being told he couldn't find the house ,he finally manage to come around last week .
When he came he could not find the water stop tap as there seems to be a seperate tap for each appliance eg:bath ,toilet,,after looking everywhere he phoned the landlord who didn't know,so he left. The landlord texted later that day to say they were doing this as a goodwill gesture and that we are welcome to find out own plummer but at our expense.
I know i should have checked this before but looking for advice on where we stand legally on this ,as the shower was mentioned in the description of the house ,and we never would have rented the house without a shower, and we have emails confirming that they agreed to fix the shower.

Advice would be much appreciated
Sorry if i'm rambling a bit just annoyed

Polina

Welcome! :) Stop communicating with your landlord via text or verbally, go back to communicating in writing by recorded delivery. Quote e-mails and texts so they know you have records.

    1) as firefox says, write. Along the lines you did the 1st time:
after about a month of this we sent a recorded letter to state if

    2) find the stop c*ck. There's usually one in kitchen under sink but I guess the plumber looked there. If you can't find it, find the external one outside (on the pavement) and see if it works. If you can't find that one, or it does not turn, call the water company as it is their responsibility and they'll locate/repair it free.

    3) call 3 plumbers and get quotes, then send them to the landlord.
