Kia picanto central locking problem

Options
Hi hope you can help. I have a 56 plate Kia picanto Gs, it has central locking but I can't get in through drivers door!
When I turn the key anti clockwise the 'button' pops up but will not stay up. If I get in through the passenger side I can not pull the drivers door button up.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

Broken spring apparently, very common problem.

Did you not Google search before starting this thread? ;)

The link above says it applies to the lock mechanism itself.

Just a spring. So either replace the spring or fit a whole new lock.

I know which option i would take. Especially as its not a one off, How long before the spring in the new lock fails?

I am a woman and admit that I do not think I could tackle this myself.

I have Autoaid cover, could I call them out for this?

I have Mobility problems and climbing over from the passenger side is not something I could do too often,

No. Autoaid is a breakdown company and wont cover it.

Take it to a garage, The one that services the car.

Hi there, this appears to be a common problem, had to sort this for somebody today!! it can usually be cured by a sharp rap with the side of a fist on the external door handle causing the problem- i was dubious but a friend in the trade told me to do this and it did work- 3/4 sharp bangs to the external handle (i did 2 each side of the handle quite hard) ,put the key back in and hey presto!!! the lock tends to get jammed, quite often in cold weather- a sharp tap normally rleases the mechanism-it worked well, Regards
  • Kia Picanto central locking- 4 sharp raps on the exteranl door handle -2 each side normally releases the jammed mechanism- common fault and one i cured again today- hard raps with side of fist, then try key again in lock

Hi there, 4 sharp raps to external handle that has jammed (normally drivers side)- quite hard raps, i used side of fist, 2 on each side of the handle, try key in lock, if not worked try again a bit harder- This is quite a common fault and i needed to ask a friend in the trade today- tried it and it worked well, spoken to others who also had success
