Incorrect Notice (typo) for rent increase

I received a letter today advising of a rent increase in December (ie more than one month's notice as is required). However the notice states that my rent is to change from its current amount to £8 a month.
Where do I stand if I changed my rent to £8 a month as requested?
Also, I have no idea what the real amount is supposed to be, but would you inform them once the clock has ticked down a bit more so I at least get an additional month at the old rate?

Assuming you are in England/ Wales and your rent is usually below £100 000pa.
Does the notice mention s13 of the Housing Act 1988?0 -
Is it is proper notice conforming the legislation or just a random letter? Are you in or out of the fixed term at present? Is there anything in your AST about rent increases?
I'd be tempted to completely ignore it until they contact you, AFAIK they would have to serve the notice again. Even more tempting would be to change the standing order to £8 a month .... but you might get a notice to quit for that.

What legislation does it need to conform to? I read that they should detail a right to appeal?
My fixed term expired in February so it's rolling basis now. There is a clause saying they'd renew the AST at a cost of £100 every 6 months but they never have. I wonder if they'd enforce that if I were to challenge the increase..
I'm tempted to tell them they've sent it incorrectly in a few weeks' time, when they'd need to reissue with it starting a month later, though £8 a month rent would be preferable obviously..matched betting: £879.63
