There was one, early 2008 to 2009.

Next one due in 10 -15 years, according to economic cycles.

Or if you read MoneyWeek - the crash is due at precisely 3:15 on Tuesday

    :rotfl:

The 2008 one was more of a readjustment, not a crash. The last proper crash came in the early 1990s. I wish I had bought in 1994 - you could get some amazing bargains back then.

Sorry to go on about it but when I read this it annoys me, there may not have been a crash where you live but I can assure you there has been a severe crash in parts of the UK and there continues to be. It may not affect you at the moment but sadly for me and thousands of others in northern Ireland house prices DO drop and the crisis is in full swing. I guess out of sight, out of mind. Do continue to gloat though, I hope for your sake there is no crash in England.

    That's a fair comment.
Actually I'm not gloating. Relieved would be a better word.

I thought the HPC people called it right as things stood.
Had the government not taken the proper measures it was possible.

Really once interest rates were slashed that was the end of that. Now every possible measure has been taken to ensure a crash in most areas doesn't happen. NI being exception.

At the end of the day I'm only really bothered about number 1.
I don't think people are priced out. It's all about if you can pay a mortgage. When free lending returns that will be all it's about not all these idiots saying 3 times salary etc...

Everybody lies to get a big mortgage or credit. Fact of life. It's just about finding the dough to pay it then nobody cares.

I made a shedload of money on my house. I want to keep it or watch it's value increase further.

At least Sibley is honest about his motivations.

Unlike that dreadful equity predator, Bruce Banner.

No they don't. I guess from your statement that you would happily lie on a application form for your own benefit but the majority of people are actually quite honest and wouldn't dream of doing such a thing.

  • Like it or not high house prices are fantastic for the country overall.
  • Just for the record I cheer and scream like a banshee when prices go up

Can't believe how naive you are.

Every person I know with a mortgage lied when applying.
Every company I deal with lies and falsifies figures when applying for loans or wishes to sell the business.

When I was about 22 and bought my first house. I think I was on 10k a year and needed to borrow 50k.

The bosses always knew the score and would lie about your earnings for you. Once you had the mortgage they knew you would stay put.

It has worked out that the more you borrowed at that time, the more money you have made now on your house.

    Wish I lied more.

Try it. You might actually own one day.

Thats one of the most honest posts I have read from one of the "hardcore Bullish posters on this board".

Thanks Sibley, just wish Wots(heavy in debt)that and Johny(I have a made up profitable potfolio)Bravo could do the same.

I don't mind homeowners or speculators or anyone making money in a capitalist sysytem even it is slightly immoral in some cases. If you made money out of a bubble property market good luck to you Sibley, you are not the cause/blame of it inflating.

Heres to another side of Sibley I have not seen before:beer:

As I said this says more about you and the people you associate with than society in general. Most people are honest and don't lie, they find they get on in life quite nicely thank you without lying and cheating at every turn.
