new conservatory

We are considering a new smallish conservatory at 3 x 2.5 m. WE have only had one quote to date at £8000. Its for Edwardain style, upvc all the way to the florr, no extras like under floor heating or added electrics. Does this sound the right ball park. I have no idea what to expect to pay. We are awaiting other quotes, but I get very stressed by visits and hard sell so worry when they come..I try to have someone with me.

Anyone with more knowledge give me an idea if this is reasonable or not? live in south west.
Cheers

It seems awful small, can you not get a bit bigger one, seeing as you are going to the expense and then finding it not quite big enough.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

it does sound a small area but I'm sure you will make use of the covered space...even a small area can be a nice and light space...

Would really recommed that you avoid the large national companies and try a few local independant window/ conservatory places for quotes...we have recently had new windows, doors and a revamp of an existing conservatory and couldnt fault the service or quality of the company....no hard sell just a price and an extremely competative one at that....and all the guys working on the job over the last few months have been brilliant

What area of the south west are you...

  • hi there.
Yes it is quite small, its the best we can do as we have a raised patio and a pond which we are loathe to move as its a wildlife pond. Small is relative though as the room its coming off is only 3x3 anyway so it would increase that 'space' quite a bit. Obviously this is one of the things we have to consider..is it worth it for something that small?

We have gone local for quotes..had one at £8000, other hasn't bothered to get back to us yet. We're in west wilts. I was crossing fingers and hoping it would come in at under 7, but as I dont know about these things, Ive no idea of that is realistic or not.

    ANy other advice appreciated.
