Relationship Finished, Joint Tenancy Query

Hi - there are a couple of similar threads on the forum about situations like this, but none really answer my question exactly.
My partner and I have split up - he is living in the house still, until 5th November, but cancelled his DD paying his half of the rent and bills a month ago, so I have had no payment for October (the rent and bills come out of my account) - he doesn't seem to be willing to pay anything either. The tenancy for the house we've been in over 4 years is in both our names, but I want his name removed. I intend to keep the house on myself until early spring - I can afford it for a few months while I sort myself out - but want him off the legal documents so he cannot claim any rights on the house (I don't want him moving back in if his other place falls through at any point). I have a pretty good relationship with the landlord, who I think will be happy for me to stay there on my own for a while.
Any advice as to how, or if, I can do this?
thanks

If you are joint tenants you are jointly and severally liable for the FULL rent not half each. Keep paying the full rent and council tax, write to your landlord to ask for the tenancy to be reassigned to you, tho he may ask you to sign a new six month AST. Read and photograph all the meters on your partner's last day and submit to the relevant companies for a final bill, get a forwarding address for your partner.
Once you have received all the bills send your partner an invoice for everything he owes using recorded delivery or getting two proofs of posting from different Post Offices, if he ignores it send a 'letter before action', if he ignores that you can bring a small claims action in the county court. Obviously don't tell him this when you politely ask for a forwarding address for mail!!
