Installing a SSD and replacing battery

Hi there Technie people
I was wondering if anyone could help/advise me on how to progress.
I have a PACKARD BELL Easynote TM86 and has been decent for the last 2 years. However the battery is starting die and maybe last half an hour before turning itself off. I therefore want to get a new battery. Any suggestions on best place to buy replacement batterys? I see the official ones are very expensive. I equally see cheap ones on ebay but am a bit wary about buying these. Therefore, can anyone suggest a good replacement website or even a better battery to install!
Secondly, I'm want to give my drive a bit more juice so am thinking about replacing my hard drive with a SDD. Research has suggested that the Samsung 830 256gb is a very good drive (this would equal my existing drive which is only 40% full). How will I know before purchasing if it is compatible or are they all? Secondly, are there any good guides for installing one or any tips anyone can provide? Also, would it be better to reinstall Win 7 on my new drive or just clone my existing drive?
Many thanks for all tips in advance.

Can't really help you on the battery but I can certainly recommend the SSD hard drive. I'd be very surprised if you had any compatibility issues. I have the Samsung 830 128GB and I had no problems installing it. My PC recognized it straight away.
I put Win8 on my SSD as this is the most effective solution for speeding up Windows. My PC is lightning fast now. However, I would recommend a clean install of Win8 onto your new SSD. Transferring an image is never as good as a clean install, and you want your PC to be as efficient as possible.0 -
I always do a clean install if I'm fitting a new hard drive. It's rather like having an annual spring clean:oIt's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it.0

Thanks both for your feedback.
If anyone has any suggestions on batteries I would appreciate it

The ebay seller Powercell_UK is one who I have used many times in my business. Next day delivery and is actually in the UK, Nottingham to be precise. A bit pricier than some but I've never had compatibility issues.0

My laptop never leaves the house so battery duration isn't much of an issue for me. I have a laptop in preference to a desktop as I prefer to sit on a sofa rather than at a desk.0 -
I use it with the battery around the house and elsewhere a fair bit so battery use is quite important to me!
