Argh Bloody car

Options
I just wrote a long whinging post all about my car and it didn't go through  and double

I ain't typing it all again.....The long and short of it is I don't like my car it needs money spent on it but the car doesn't warrant that amount of money spent. I wish I wasn't so broke so that I could just go and get something decent, but instead I have to make do.

Arghhhhh

Hi MMan we just had a bit of a fiasco with ours but we were pointed to a car forum https://www.parkers.co.uk where they are very helpful :D Lots of mechanics on there!
We were told we needed a new auto gearbox at £2k+ got away with taking it to have just the part replaced by a specialist auto gearbox man for £400 :T :T :T
I have every sympathy for you hun as its a nightmare when you rely on a car

i soooooooo know what you mean, i have a peugot diesel with 108K on the clock, it has just cost me nearly £600 to get it through its MOT and over the year in total it has cost me £1000,averaging at one repair every two months, two days out of work because I cant do my job without a car. I dont have the money to buy anything half way decent but could actually afford to pay out the money for decent car on credit if I could actually get credit! but am also with the CCCS so am not allowed to take any more credit agreements out.
I can not physically get to my job without it and have to drive inbetween 60 -70 miles a day. I have no other options for work and love my job anyway. But it means that I am driving a car that I am absolutely terrified of, constantly paranoid that something else is about to drop off, burst into flames, go flat, start leaking ( these are just some of the things its done in recent months) ... and if it finely does give up on me, the bottom line is I will have to give up my job, wont be able to pay my bills or my debt, or mortgage.
Last year I didnt actually get any proper break from work ( as in a weeks holiday) because between the car and the kids being ill, both of which I neded to use holiday time for - the car was in the garage for two days on every occassion! ...so I am completely knac#ered into the bargain as well!
Other than starting to enter competitions and trying to WIN one, I am stuck! gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

i will go have a look at those sites too but considering that i can only just do the wind screen water thing, I dont think any menchanic stuff is going to be of any use to me,,, i would love to do a really basic course in mechanics but therejust arent the facilities to access where i am!

A few years ago I bought cheap Golf for £1100, after 6 months I had spent around £2,000 on it and decided I had better have the cam belt done since it had cost me so much.

The job was donne on the Saturday and I wrote ot off on the Monday (got T.Boned all my fault) it was like having a huge weight lifted off my shoulders, I was feeling very poor by then but felt so much better that the millstone had finally gone!
  • Thanks guys and gals that makes me feel better (sorry) you see my car hasn't cost me a fortune. I probably need to spend about £600 on it to get it in A1 condition mechanically and cosmetically. It has niggling faults and yesterday I just had a bad day with it cos the battery ran flat (at home fortunately). I think the problem is that my last car which also cost me about £1800 went for years without any probs this one has had niggles since the day I got it (feels lke it). If I get it sorted I'm sure it'd last me a good few years yet.

Klare if I was you I'd get rid of your car whilst it has a years MOT and get something Japanese for the same sort of money....
