The OP would need to be assessed by an external assessor to see whether s/he was entitled to any access arrangements such as a scribe/reader/rest breaks/extra time etc. This has to be done officially and I would imagine OP would have to pay to have this assessment. You can't just say 'I've got weak hands, give me a scribe' and get one. It needs to be done officially.

That isn't strictly true, if the OP already has a statement of needs this can be used and to be fair some physical disabilities are more obvious and the official route isn't necessary eg a broken arm would not need a doctors note whereas dyslexia would need a statement.

Not always - Dyslexia and other conditions would be covered in a full disabled students report, but that would only apply to the college / institution paying for the report. So if for example my dyslexic DS2 went to Manchester Uni to study for his PhD, the report he had done whilst an undergraduate & MA student at London Uni would not be applicable and Manchester Uni would have to commission a report and visual tests of their own to assess his needs for extra time & support.

Oh and DS2 has had to pay upfront & claim the costs back for all of his assessments & tests.
  • We found we needed a new assessment for each university too.
Vanoo if you want to get into secondary teaching you need A levels or Highers in the specific subject you wish to teach, irrespective of how many degrees you have!

Even our pupils with statements have to be assessed for exam access arrangements at the start of Year 10. Then if they choose to continue to do A Levels after their GCSEs, they have to be assessed all over again - their access arrangements from GCSE don't automatically stand.

i will be sitting AS level Mathematics, which i am told is 99% number answers, which is ok, but when i have to write more than a senence or two my hands beome too weak to write legibly,

if AS Maths does include writing text or if my hands weaken during the exam that i need help, what is allowed/available?

I'm surprised that you haven't already looked at past papers to see the exam format.

Wild guess but AS papers, so probably C1, C2 and S1 or possibly M1??

In terms of actual answers they are mainly numbers, but you are expected to show your workings. This is sensible as a slip could lead you getting zero marks for a question whereas your workings could get you most of the marks even with the wrong final answer.

From memory there will be one or two questions which require a sentence in answer, usually of the form "Give two reasons why the graph is skewed.", "explain why the equation has no solutions".
