How can you see their retracted bid history?

If you click on the bidder then their bidding history comes up.
  • I have received an email back from Rita Danson at eBay thanking me for making her aware of the situation and assuring me that action has been taken - although due to privacy etc.. she couldn't tell me what action had been taken against this other bidder - blah blah blah...

She didn't say why the bidding couldn't have been reset in the light of the person retracting the two bids which bumped the final price to me up - so I guess it's just tough luck on me and fortunate for the buyer
  • On reflection, now that I've won this item I don't really want it - I think it would anger me seeing it in my house. Would it be ok for me to pay for it via Paypal and then tell the owners they can keep it. Obviously I would send a covering email explaining what has happened but forking out for diesel to collect it seems like adding insult to injury. I'm giving the sellers the benefit of the doubt that they are innocent of any involement in shill bidding.

I would just ask the seller that you bid on it by mistake, and don't want the item, so could they send you a cancellation.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Have you clicked on 'show automatic bids' on the bidding list for the item? If you click on that, it should show your bids and the person bidding up the item as well. They would have stopped just before they became the highest bidder (or retracted the bids that put them above your highest bid)

Personally, I would do everything possible to get out of buying the item. If you have enough evidence of them shill bidding, and by the sounds of it, you have, then I would tell them you have reported them to ebay and that you no longer want the item so could they cancel the transaction.

It's up to you of course how you want to deal with it, but personally I wouldn't pay them a penny unless I absolutely had to!
  • Thank you for all the advice. Here's an update:

I have sent the buyer a nice eBay explaining why I want to cancel my winning bid. I have not accused them of shill bidding just mentioned the malicious bidding that bumped the item price up to £10 and how the actions of such a person spoil eBay for genuine buyers/sellers.

This was a few days ago and I have heard nothing from them - though a quick look at the malicious bidders bidding history is showing that they are still retracting bids - so much for customer services at eBay eh?

Could someone please advise on my next step please. Is it to send them another email requesting a cancellation?

    Many thanks.
