dlink dns 320 nas drive - static ip?

should i set this up with a static ip as i keep losing connection when router is re-booted? if so, what ip should i give it?

any advice appreciated.

    I have a DNS-323 and have given that a static IP and have no problems with it so doing so certainly won't make things worse. IMO it's pretty much irrelevant what IP you actually use.

    Just give an IP address outside of the router's dynamic address range , some routers allow you to fix them via the router interface, mine doesn't

    Yes I should probably have been clearer. You do need to fix the IP in the DNS320 settings to one outside the router DHCP range if it can't support fixed IPs. Certainly just about every router I've owned does support fixing the IP though and that's what I've done leaving my DNS323 using DHCP automatic.
