Need help on CN22 form and Certificate of Posting

Hi!

I am a new seller on eBay have just sold 10 items via eBay, 7 of them are going outside of EU.

I am a little stuck on the CN22 form, there is a section on the form that say 'origin of goods', if the product is made in China, do I simply put 'China'?

And do I need to add my name to the return address, because it said 'I, the undersigned, whose name and address are given on the item...'

Also I think I should protect my items in case they get lost by completing a certificate of posting, and have it approved by my post office. But the address space is tiny, what do you normally do, do you shorten the address or write onto the lines below?

Thanks in advance!!!

    Xmas Saver!
I know when I posted to Southern Ireland (in EU), when the parcel was weighed on the receipt given to me by the post office had got the recievers address on and that was my proof of posting, xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • My post office doesn't put the full address on the receipt, sometimes not even the post code. I fear this will be the case for international mail. :(

I don't want to be rude and ask them to specifically enter the full address on the receipt, this would take a lot of time also.

This is why I want to fill out a Bulk Certificate Of Posting and get it approved, but the form itself is really badly designed, anybody had any experience filling in the form?

(I'm sorry I cannot upload any links or images, to find the form enter 'Bulk Certificate Of Posting' on Google).

    Any help is much appreciated!

I do sometimes run to two lines on the bulk COP, I've never had a problem. AS for the CN22, that is the country you are sending from, so UK and I just sign it as my address is on the parcel as a returns label anyway.

Have a look at the sticky postage thread

Hate to contradict you Soo, but the Country of Origin is where the goods originate, not from where they are sent. I put people straight about this at least 3 times a week at work - the rules of origin are here: -http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageLibrary_PublicNoticesAndInfoSheets&propertyType=document&columns=1&id=HMCE_CL_000193

Can't edit the link for some reason :(

Anyway, basic upshot is that if it says made in China on it, and you dont have evidence that it's undergone sufficient processing/transformation on it, the COO is CHina

My CN22 forms supplied by RM have Great Britain already printed on top LH corner- there is no space for any other country to be entered. The only time I have to enter a country for despatch is on paypal- and that is not printed out at all and I have no idea what paypal do with that info.

Whilst I do not disagree with you Iit seems odd as a lot of things I sell have incorrect info on them- so for instance a lot of British made china in the 1950s is actually Japanese (strangely enough they couldn't sell it if they said it was Japanese). Things like M and S clothes (which I don't sell) would probably have to be sold with a number of countries as they are sourced abroad- so selling packages of clothes will mean a huge great declaration form.

  • The COO goes in box 5/6 with the harmonised tariff number. x

All it is is number, street, postcode that you fill in, although I doubt that Royal mail will cover precious metals going abroad.

I never fill in the commercial items box / COO / Tariff number I just put a cross through it never had a problem yet, it say's on the second line in that box Tariff Number 'If known' I don't know it so don't fill in the box. I had assumed it tied in with the 'Commercial Samples' tick box and was only required if that was ticked, or if I am selling BtoB which I'm not.

I also leave the boxes blank - as far as I know it has not caused any problems.
