My wife sent all the paperwork off to them about 3 weeks ago. Does anyone know if you receive acknowledgement that the ombudsman have received your complaint?

Yes usually 2/3 weeks approx.
Did you post it by recorded delivery?
If so you can check the status of delivery, but if not, there is no harm in giving them a quick ring on the free telephone number, they should be able to track it down with name/address details.

If you have not received your case reference number by now (2 weeks), no they haven’t and you never will.

It was sent recorded delivery on 26/09/12 and signed for on 27/09/12.
I have sent them an email requesting the case ref number.0
