wide screen tv

We have a wide screen tv which will not show the full screen whatever settings I choose from the menu
For example if we're watching a programme which has menus on each side of the screen , only part of these menus are shown
ie Watching a motorcycle grand prix recently, all it showed on the left of the screen was the following -
rosa insead of Pedrosa enza instead of Lorenza
I really don't know what to do to rectify this problem and would appreciate any help and info

What are you using to watch TV? The TV's internal tuner, or a sky box? If you're using an external box, you've probably got it set to 4:3, or you might just have the TV set to zoom/pan & Scan.

TV model would be useful, as well as set top box model if you're using one. You want the 'aspect' setting to be 16:9, or Auto, or normal, not 'zoom' or similar. You also want to turn overscan off but that's not affecting this issue.

Are you using an external box as well?

yes sky.

will try this

Press Services' on your handset
Select System Settings (Option 4)
Select Picture Settings (Option 1)
Scroll right and select 16:9
Scroll right to change the picture format to 16:9
Scroll down to second location picture format
Scroll right to change this to 16:9
Scroll down to Save New Settings
Press the Sky button to return to TV viewing

I followed your post and we now have what we want. My wife's well happy as she can now read the prices and details on qvc and the shopping channels
