one of two problems, either both your bath & shower are connected to the main (unlikely) or the electric shower is connected to the cold bath supply pipe from your roof tank, electric showers must be connected to the mains not a feed from the roof tank, turn off your incoming mains does the shower & bath feed stop ? if not then it's incorrectly connected to the roof tank, putting in a bigger output shower isn't going to make any difference to your problem

Amazing how the simple solutions are usually the best-why didn't I think of that?

    OK. Two things then.

    1. Where might I find my mains stop !!!! lol. Dont actually know where that is.

    2. i presume its fairly easy to get the shower plumbed correctly (ie to the mains) when I have the rest of the bathroom re-done. Im assuming it would just mean running a riser up to the shower point (if there isnt already one there).

Follow the cold supply back from the sink?
Or outside at your meter if you have one?
I'd find out pronto, because with winter coming you may need to find it in an emergency.

Well, found a tap through a side cut-out in one of the cupboards. The pipe to it comes up through the kitchen floor. Turning it off, and I loose cold the water for the kitchen sink - so I assume this is the feed.

I went to the bathroom, and no water there either - on the shower, bath or sink. It would appear that the whole bathroom comes from a single riser - which is not that large a diameter, and so is shared between all 3 feeds (bath tap, sink tap and shower) and would appear to be the same riser than feeds the cold water tank in the loft (as its the only cold feed going up there). I actually followed the pipe down from the shower feed, and it branches off and goes under the bath to its taps, the sink and the toilet inlet.

Im also assuming then that Im not going to be able to increase the pressure to the shower, as with the bath/sink taps off its getting the full mains pressure. Getting a higher power shower will help a little as the flow wont drop off so quickly as the temperature is raised - and actually If I can get the power i currently get with the temp dial set to minimum and no other taps on in the bathroom but with the correct heat set on the shower Id be happy.

Is it worth (when the bathroom is done) getting the bath and sink plumbed from the cold water tank in the loft - or just left as it is. Is it worth running a separate riser for the shower or will that actually not help (as its ultimately all coming from a single mains feed anyway).

Have you checked the filter on the shower inlet for carp or similar restriction?

    Cheers
