Is there still any need for Visa Electron Card

I have opened Halifax Basic account about a year ago solely for a purpose of having a Visa Electron card which would allow me not to pay a card fee when booking a flight ticket with EasyJet or some other companies.
Hence these practices now outlawed I am wondering if there is still any benefit for having a Visa Electron card or I can sacrifice this account for transferring it over to First Direct for £100 reward?

Is there a single person on this forum that has paid recently on any website that used not to charge for paying by Electron card but now does or still doesn't?0

Why not transfer it to the coop who are offering £200?
Are you sure the airlines have stopped charging? I booked a flight not so long ago and had to pay like £8 for the transaction.0 -
I book cross channel ferries with mine, without a charge, last used in early september though.
Edit. just been to ferry website, electron, carte bleu & paypal still free others charged. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

The question is not whether airlines have stopped charging but whether having an Electron as apposed to a normal Visa Debit still gives any benefit anywhere at all0 -

Was it LIKE £8, or ACTUALLY £8?
And what sum is more "like" £8 than £8 itself?0 -
I have an account with a visa Electron Card which I use basically like a pre-paid visa card. I load the card with the approximate balance I need from another account then I can shop in confidence over the internet without worrying about bank card fraud as my account cannot go overdrawn. I also don't have to pay the loading fees/cash withdrawal fees which most pre-paid cards charge.0

Yes. There is a use for these cards.
As they are auth all. then for people who have problems with money. They are used by banks credit departments for these people to ensure they don't spend more than they have.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
