Can anyone help please?

I have scanned some documents and tried to open the files but get a message saying that there's not enough RAM to open them and I cannot view them

What do I do please?

I have 1GB . Recently ran a defrag. Fairly new to computers so would value any advice please.

What resolution did you scan these documents at (dpi) ? Try scanning at a lower resolution i.e. 200 or 300 dpi.

What size are the files? Try scanning at a lower resolution to reduce the file size. Close all applications except Photoshop and stop all unnecessary processes to increase the memory available to Photoshop. Booting in Safe Mode is an easy way to do this.

If still unable to open, increase the size of the computer's paging file. See http://www.theeldergeek.com/physically_setting_the_page_file_size.htm

Haven't got the foggiest idea about these things to be honest.

Pictures stored cannot be opened, newly scanned page of text cannot be opened either.

It's just scanned items that I think it affects.

I've looked at the virtual memory which says 1524mb currently allocated.

What should I change it to? I haven't got a clue about these things, nor scanning resolutions. I was able to open them before I downloaded Microsoft publisher and office. I haven't downloaded anything separate for photoshop and cannot see it in my programmes. Sorry to seem so dim on these things.

    Update...........

When I click on the photo in "my pictures" I get a window with the title "Adobe Photoshop" and the message saying not enough RAM to open.

But when I right click on the image, click on "open with", then click on
" Windows Picture And Fax viewer", I can open it fine.

How can I reset this, if that what needs doing?

Right-click as before - Open With - Choose Program, then select Windows Picture and Fax Viewer from the list and tick 'Always use...' box.

That's fine for simply viewing the photos, but you'll need to open them in Photoshop if you want to edit them.
