Shower Screen

I am looking for any suggestions as how to improve the current screen we have. You will see from the pics that it is a fold screen. the problem with it is that sometimes it leaks. Is there anything else, apart from ripping the bath out?

Could you add a D-shaped overhead shower curtain rail so the curtain lies inside the bath?
I'm considering something similar for my trendy but occasionally too narrow curved screen.Mortgage free plans on hold!

No, look at the last photo. See where the taps are.
I suppose what I am looking for, is a L shaped bath/shower screen. We could then seal the side along the taps but on the outer side of the screenLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
I got this image from searching for Aqualux Overbath Enclosure Bath Screen - that's what it's listed as in the Screwfix catalogue, but may be cheaper elsewhere.
(The bathroom itself looks quite relaxing, btw)I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
The problem you have is that any form of rigid class screen that moves is going to rely on that rubber seal along the bottom - and its that which gradually gets less effective especially if its forced over the raised lip on the bath to move it for cleaning. You might be able to get replacement seals as one option.
A fixed L shaped screen (as in rigid at the corner) would be useless as it wouldn't be able to swing out of the way past the basin, whilst having one that hinges at the corner wouldn't be possible as there is nowhere to fix it at that point. (I'm assuming you would want to fold the screen out of the way for baths and cleaning).
One option is to have a fixed and sealed glass screen along behind the taps and then a curtain rail which runs round the two exposed sides of the bath with a view to using the curtain along the long side of the bath (tucked in by the taps to stop water getting out at the corner). The curtain could then be pushed out of the way by the shower head when not in use.
You could turn the bath round so the taps are at the toilet end but that would leave you having to have a fixed short screen which may not be long enough to stop spray getting out, and would be a major job.
The low tech solution would be to cut an old towel into strips and lay a strip along the bottom of the existing screen - the absorbancy of the towel would probably be enough to stop any significant amounts of water going underneath.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Or is the water going over the top of the screen?
How serious is the leak?
If it is only occasional, and as you have a tiled floor, would placing a bath mat or towel on the floor when using the shower help?
Most over bath showers with moveable screens that I have used leak somewhat. It usually only takes a few seconds to mop up any spillage.
Your bathroom looks very nice and it would be a shame to have to do more work to it.0 -

We have just replaced the seal and that has helped. It doesnt leak everytime, just occasionally. We put a towel down on the floor, the other side of the taps.
If we went for a fixed glass behind the taps, (fitted on the wall in the same place as the current one) why would we want a shower curtain on the side of the tiles? Its a very high ceiling, would we have to have something made to support shower curtain?
The main reason I wanted it to be perfect is because we hope to rent the house out in a few months.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
