I have had a barclaycard for over 10 years, i know that have long standing credit is good for your credit profile.

However Barlaycard have a lot of good promo's for BT's and purchases and i would imagine this would be the same in the future.

My question is do i keep the current card and get the occasional BT offer, 12 month at best or close it and in the future have access to what is market leading promo's at the moment.

Stick with Barclaycard but apply for another card as well.

That should give you 2 options in the future.

depends what other cards you have

if it's your only one then it would be a little mad to close it.

Have a few cards from different lenders so have other options, but obviously the longest rates for BT/purchases is for new customers.
  • Well I get regular offers from MBNA and Ltsb for 12 month b/t with no need to apply for new cards which I may or may not get.

We keep our BC open and receive offers every month. The last one was 22 months at 0%. So if I was you I would keep the accounts open.

Keep the card - it's about the only thing Barclaycard are good for, but the balance transfer offers are usually well worth it. Including the 6.9% for life ones.

I have never seen a BT for that long with existing customers, i tend to get more from MBNA than BC but normally 12/13 months max.

Just BT'd Barclays to Tesco so will find out if they will offer anything in the near future.

Is this definitely correct? What was the handling fee? I've held multiple Barclaycard accounts for 14 years and never had a postal offer of more than 12 months at 0% fee (usually about 3% handling)

My BT offers from MBNA dried up a while ago. I then starting using it for small purchases and now get BT offers on a regular basis.
The present one is 12 months bt from another card at 3.5% and 0% or 12 months cash to bank account but 4% with the 0%

I feel tempted to take the cash to bank one for about £1100 but am worried it might look had on my credit file.
