I was watching Monty on Gardeners World last night planting apple trees to grow horizontally along a wall
The only wall i have is against the garage but it's in shade most of the time, would that be Ok and what else could i put there Plums ? Pears ?
The only other space i have in the sun is against a wooden panel fence, i don't think that would be strong enough.
Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Mine is against a wooden panel fence, have had no problems , been there for at least three summers. The tree is not suported by the fence, no weight. AS long as the wire is .

Both would be fine, lok up either espalier or Cordon style. Due to the size of my garden I grow a number of trees along the fences in both Espallier and cordon.

Dependant on the individual tree (any from further north will be use to less sun) you should get fruit from the shady area...although probably less that the sunny area....one point is make sure the soils is spot on in the shady area as this will help.

Morello cherries were always grown against the North Wall of old kitchen gardens because they don't mind being out of the sun .... fantastic for cooking/jam making etc.
