'can't help it' spends

  • Well for me it is literally everything, I may be a bit of a shop-a-holic. I try not to spend, but I find myself doing without even thinking. I mean today on my work lunch I spent £20 in sainsburys on a pillow that was on offer, some creams and oils and also a couple of magaziones that I clearly won't have the intention on reading!

It's ridiculous, I don't even need a new pillow or creams/oils, but because i'm a sucker for offers I decided to buy it...

I can NEVER window shop, it's either i'm going out to buy or i'm not... I'm the kind of person that would go window shopping and end up buying the window...

Do you know that the markup on those cosmetics is more than the food industry charges? 400% is very easy. All of those cosmetic grade creams and oils are available to buy in the shops as their component ingredients. Better yet, you can just mix them and have creme by the gallon.

LOL. My husband calls 'just walking round the shops' as "trench warfare" rather than his style of "commando attack". I've stopped window shopping. I cant afford it.

  • OP I can totally relate to the problem you have! I started a thread, Every day dilemma, a few months ago and it's kinda turned into a diary for me. Well, diary/confession spot!! ;) My downfall is lunchtime at work :o There are a few ideas and suggestions in my diary which you might find useful!

I've just started this month in the October NSD challenge which is helping me a lot!!!

I'm gonna subscribe to keep an eye on how you're doing ;)

    Good luck!!!!

I used to be a shopaholic as well. My main point of weakness being the supermarket. It was so easy to fill my trolley with expensive pizzas, yoghurts, a couple of magazines, you name it. My biggest downfall though, was what I call "telly snacks". Things like crisps, biscuits, fridge raiders. All that sort of thing I find myself mindlessly snacking on.
These days I'm totally rigid with my list!
My only "luxury" that I "can't help" is the Tesco value chocolate mouuses! I think they're bloody delicious, and work out at like 7p a pot. My dinner doesn't feel complete without tagged on the end!

I also used to be a Yankee Candle lover. But now I've tamed that to asking for them for xmas or birthday. Just "nothing vanilla or cinnamon scented!" Vanilla gives me headaches and a sore throat, and I've just never liked cinnamon smells!

So what's the problem? Take them back, make up a story about your husband was in earlier than you and bought them from the list you gave him, and you forgot he had the list, and get your money back. Do that a couple of times and then you'll start thinking about your spending.
