Have you tried Yankee candles....!?
Yeah they are nice. I like the crackling woodwick ones too. I have really cut back with candles since we decorated, didn't realise how much of a difference the candle smoke had made to the wallpaper until we started decorating. Although the downside was I convinced myself it was the cheap candles that smoke so don't really buy the cheap ones anymore. I love them and have cut it down to now and again as it is as close to the real thing as burning money.0 -

When I feel the urge to splurge on things I want rather than need I go on Amazon and add a load of things to my wish list which has categories for all my weaknesses such as jewellery, candles, music and books. Seems to work. The rest of the time I stay out of shops as much as possible and also take only enough cash with me for my working day.
Been caught out on amazon with their one-click thing when i'm feeling impulsive! Once loaded my shopping basket in house of fraser then left it, they sent me an email say 'have you left something at our house?' obviously cottoned on to online window shopping!0 -

Really? Me too. Then I realised how much cheaper it was to make it myself. 1kg of candle wax on EBay is very cheap...far cheaper than buying a ready made candle. You can mix your own scents, colours, jars and number of wicks. Takes a coule of hours work on a Saturday morning....presto, as many candles as you want.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

I don't think many of us realise just how much money is spent on 'junk' - ie items we don't need and can easily exist without. Indeed many people probably can't remember this week what they spent a lot of money on last week, but at the time they probably considered their purchase 'important' and 'necessary'.
I used to regularly bust my overdraft (by that I mean they stop even giving me money) and still not be able to make ends meet. When I tally my actual spending requirements (bills) I come out at about £1900 a month including food and petrol. So, with an income of nearly £3K a month, how the holy heck did I ever manage to bust my overdraft? I never did get to the bottom of it and that was the problem. I just hemoraged money each month. When I think of how much and what I could have achieved in the last 15 years if I had done things differently :eek:Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Magazines, sushi, expensive notebooks, sewing patterns (because 'I can make my own clothes and this pattern is only £3' but then I never make it....) hazelnut lattes

it is amazing how much we do waste on items that we could do without
..even buying a newspaper when you can read it online ...my main cost s spending it on my 2 kids kids just on sweets, juice , magazine ( cheapest being nearly £2-99 ) etc if they are in the corner shop ...its ok them saying irs only £££ but when i added it up it was nearly£60 a month f shocking !!! ..esp when i also bought multipacks of sweets / juice from supermarket for school / snacks to try and save money0 -
Socks.
I'm a sock addict :rotfl: I think I must have snaking close to 200 pairs  Mostly Primark ones - you can get a multipack for £2.50 and they have some really funky styles. They also have reduced ones sometimes - usually the slouch socks which I love, I have 2 pairs I paid 50p each for and I like to wear them over my thermal leggings for the rugby as they're actually really warm!
I go into shops I wouldnt normally to buy them - I have 3 pairs from River Island that cost me £12  I dont go into town much so when I do I have to usually come back with a pair of socks...*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -

At the time of spend i think 'its just £1/£2/£5 and after a hard days work surely I shouldn't grudge myself a little treat' but when the £20 note I took out the bank is gone I always think it could have been better spent, something to show for it.
Pure marketing gold the person who thought up the saying "I'm worth it" and attached it to consumerism! wow the amount of times I hear that to justify buying another top/dress/coat etc etc there are many variations on it of course but I can't help but admire the genius!DF as at 30/12/16

Shoes. I have two feet. I've always had two feet. I have no clue why I have nearly 50 pairs of shoes and boots.
I've had to buy new black smart boots for work, and got two pairs to last me this winter and beyond. Apart from that, I've gone cold turkey for six weeks now, and put the money into a mortgage pig whenever I've come home having not bought a pair. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
