Do raspberries spread as per bramble? If so, are there are non invasive varieties.

They all do it. The only answer (and it's not infallible) is to 'trench' a line beyond which you don't want them to grow. That said, I tried it once and the darned things still invaded my lawn!

Still, there are worse problems. You can't eat bindweed, after all.
  • They're not as bad as bramble, at least they don't bend over and root from the tip (usually),
If it moves into the lawn you can always mow it.

Actually, you can eat it, but it can give you the sh ... runs. The stuff is a pain in the backside.

  • Actually, Glencoe don't. They sort of crown and if you dig them up every 3 years you can split the crown and make 2 plants. They don't seem to send suckers up at all.

Rasps are easily controlled though - buy non spiky ones and just dig up the suckers once a year or chop back any that are where you don't want them.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

That isn't the problem with bramble. The ones I dug out had spread by underground runners. Since they would be next to rhubarb, I can't really have plants doing that.

  • They do down here, but itss possible they may have cross bred with some cultivated ones which grew in the fields next door.

I hope it is due to crossing, as I will order some. Not cheap though. :)

Many years back I put in a double row of overlapping slate as a physical barrier to the runners.

They just opened up the gaps and worked there way round.
Was considering them again, but then again......?
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I had 2 planted by someone in my garden 2 years ago and I gave away over 100 plants this year hoping to get rid of them all as they had overtaken my garden. I'm sure I will be digging them up for years.
