Aqua decline - appeal or not?

Hi all.

I'm a recent MS convert and have been reading this site and forum a lot over the past few months, learning and absorbing.

A quick overview... I got my first credit card from Barclays 5 months ago and wanted to apply for the Aqua Reward card (purely for the 3% cashback)

Did an online application and received the decline letter today - have sent off for my Experian statutory report (although Equifax and Call Credit have no issues...) The letter said "if the payment history doesn't meet our criteria..." and this is what's apparently happened in my case.

According to Aqua's website, they consider people on a case-by-case basis and those on a low income (category I fall into). I'm on the electoral roll and had a shopping account, a mobile phone, an overdraft (used on and off as a credit facility)... no late payments or defaults...

I rang them to ask a bit more about the letter... without knowing any details, the advisor said unless there's something actually wrong with my Experian report, I've got no chance of appealing their decision.

My question to all the MSEs out there... should I appeal? Has anyone ever done so successfully?

Indeed, if your credit report doesn't say anything, it might be fruitless to appeal.

I know other people that have been refused credit, and they've been told (after a long drawn out discussion), "Ok, It's your addres, or rather, your post code.".
