Garden waste disposal - brown lid bins

I have some narrow wood planks not really bulky, about less than a metre long and 3-4 inch wide and want to get rid of them. Am I ok to put them in the garden waste brown lid bin?

Cheers

  • Depends . .
where I live, NO you cant put anything thicker/ wider than about 5 mm in the brown (garden waste) bin. Stick 'em in your normal waste bin, break them in half if necessary?

if you didn't cut it down from your garden, it probably doesn't belong in the garden waste bin.....
  • I agree, but it seems they only want grass cuttings and twigs in the garden bins.

You could put them on freecycle.

garden waste wont have contaminants on it, your planks of wood have possibly been chemically treated.

garden waste is grass flowers and tree clippings which is taken away and burnt/recycled
you have planks of wood completely different just take them to your local council tip

You can put Garden waste in it, you cant put wooden planks in it. These are not garden waste.
