Harvey's HV3 water softener

Has anyone had any experience with this softener? I'm interested in getting the rental for £29 a month as the upfront cost I'm told is £1500 including installation. Would also be interested to know if anyone drinks softened water or whether you filter it...

Sorry - but you must be crazy to be considering paying £29 a month to rent a water softener !
You can buy one outright for about one third of the price that you quote. They are extremely reliable and will last for years.
Get a quote for a single cylinder machine, not one of these over priced twin cylinder things. I believe a lot of the the Harvey (Kinetico) machines also use block salt - a VERY expensive way to do it.
It is quite safe to drink softened water, but it is recommended that you don't use it to make up baby's formula milk.
Before any one mentions softeners adding sodium to the water - the additional sodium in softened water is about one third of the legal limit for sodium in fresh milk !
