other stupid charges - direct debit & SO...

hi guys. & martin!
does anyone know if this can be applied to other charges, specifically companies regulated by the FSA. I have a number of places that are managed by peverel and they charge me £11.75 per year for managing my standing order and are now ditching that for Direct debits to which they want to charge me £15 per year per property they manage. This seems like profiteering to me - they already take a management charge too.
Has anyone else come across companies charging to use DD or SO? This is the first in my expereince.
How would anyone adivse I approach this...
