Maternity Allowance anyone know anything?

I send away for maternity allowance on the 8th of Oct

I received a decision today saying I was entitled to the full amount of 135.45 a week from oct - jan.

It did not say I was entitled to anything after this but doesn't explain why, I am going to phone on Monday but would like to get a little info if possible before then.

I have worked about 55 weeks out of my 66 week test period.

21 of these weeks were full time where I paid N.I

the rest were part time for an other employer where I did not pay N.I as my earnings were not enough.

I think this may have something to do with it although I have read of other getting a lower rate of maternity allowance after the initial first few weeks at 135 a week but I don't seem to be getting anything after this.

My baby is due mid January which means I will need to start looking for work 2 weeks after baby is here at I will not receive anymore maternity allowance.

Comments

  • Does seem to be wrong, one would think that you should at least get the £30 per week after this period (as you said).

Maybe they have got the incorrect "chosen weeks" from your "test period". They may have taken the incorrect ones, if you chosen weeks were "full time employment" then you should be entitled to the max for the full 9 months.

They make a lot of mistakes, so it's worth the call and then you will know exactly what to do to get this corrected.

  • Did you get a lump sum back payment for any reason maybe? Thus shortening the time you will receive it for.
  • Hi thanks for the replies.

Nope haven't had a lump some, haven't actually received anything yet as it doesn't start until the 28th of this month.

Will definitley give them a call tomorrow for an explanation
