I don't sign for my Amazon or 'Play' so yes online retailers do use non signed for services.

I didn't say USE - i said OFFER! Amazon use a tracked service - i am talking about ones where delivery cannot be shown.

Signed for/tracked - its just nit picking - you know what i meant.

Never bought from PLAY - but show me on either website where they advertise they will send by an untrackable method.

many many retailers do just that
Again - show me on their webiste where they advertise they will send by an untrackable method.

You don't know it will be tracked or require a signature until it arrives (or if you are a regular buyer). On Ebay - every seller as to state "look - my item is not tracked - scam me!!!!!" Ok, maybe it says 1st or 2nd class standard - same thing.

The fact remains - if a seller wants to had recorded, be it because the price is higher than expected - or the buyer has dodgey feedback - thats their prerogative - and any buyer who moans is just sad.

I'd love to see someone contact VERY, TESCO OR AMAZON and say i'm not happy i have just had to sign for my item - can you send me another one i don't have to sign for. Thanks.

There are quite a few pathetic Ebayers on here, who moan when sellers use recorded.

If i start an auction at 99p - and it goes over £10 - i send recorded. I don't care what the pathetic buyers says - i have a right to protect myself. Buyers are covered by paypal.

If i put recorded to start with - and the item only sold for 99p - the same pathetic buyers would protest i didn't send by the right method.

You can't win - so just protect yourself. Online stores don't offer a none signed for service, do they? No, they would be targeted by scammers - like Ebay is. The buyer is probably just upset he/she can't claim it didn't arrive?
So you automatically assume that all buyers are scammers before you even start?

If an item doesnt arrive at a buyers address, a seller can claim for the loss with their ordinary (free) proof of postage and the buyer claims from you.

Do you know that recorded items are just as likely to be lost or stolen as any other post as they are sent through the system in exactly the same way as 1st and 2nd class?

So what would you do if you sent an item recorded and it got lost?

For you, as a seller, to call your customers "pathetic" and "scammers" IS pathetic and fortunately sellers who have this mindset very rarely last too long.

Sellers who treat their buyers in this appalling manner are slowly being thrown off, thank goodness.

I assume you don't buy from Places like Amazon or Play then?

As per custardy, they actually state that there is not likely to be any tracking as items are sent 'standard mail', or maybe you are suggesting it is just my items that state that on my order page?

Oh and yes they will believe you when you claim a loss, as per their FAQs

There isn't any tracking for my order and it's later than I expected. What happens now?

If your order has been dispatched and the estimated delivery date has passed, we recommend that you ask your local postal sorting office if they've already tried to deliver it, or ask your neighbours if the package has been left with them. Please also check that the delivery address you gave us is correct. Click the "View Order Details" button next to the order you're asking about to view the delivery address.
If your order hasn't arrived by the estimated delivery date, please wait a few days in case it's been delayed in the post. If you still haven't received it, contact us by clicking on the button on the right-hand side of this page and we'll do our best to locate it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
A few of my Play items have got lost through the years.

Their claims process is awful as a buyer - 21 days before they'll even send you a claim form, and then they have to process the refund, which takes more time.

40 days from order to refund for the last lost one.

Soolin - if your Amazon item arrived and a guy knocked on the door and asked for your autograph - would you contact them and say they had no right asking you to sign? If they left a card - would you abuse them for expecting you to sign for something of value?

Thats the point. I have never even checked the postage method used, or the amount of stamps on a packet. Its just for saddo's.

    I pay - i get it - i'm happy.

    I pay - i get a card cos i was out - i collect - i'm happy.

Look how happy i am :-

It says they don't always provide the tracking - due to different carriers having different systems - not that its not tracked. They just can't link it. Ive just ordered something.

It also states:- Orders may be delivered by various carriers but it's not possible to choose which carrier will deliver your order

I'm sure thats exactly what i was saying.

Oh and yes they will believe you when you claim a loss, as per their FAQs

It says the will try and locate it - not believe any crap they are fed

Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

I do not understand this ill-thought out logic.

First and second class offer £46 compensation for loss.

    Recorded offers £46 for loss.

So why 'upgrade' the service if the item goes 'higher than expected'?

Surely it's either under £46 or over. If the latter then special delivery or a courier should be used, or a service offering adequate insurance.

No, my Amazon and Play items arrive via standard mail and are put through the door with the rest of the post, or they are left with a neighbour (no signature required).

If they arrive tracked it doesn't bother me .

However I acctively choose to buy lower priced items on ebay from sellers that show standard postage, no recorded . Just in case by some fluke my postman decides to get me to sign for anything and I am not there. As it is at the moment everythign is either put through the door or left with a neighbour, regardless of whether it is recorded or not- but maybe at Christmas with the temp staff they might take recorded things back to the central hub where locally I have to wait a while before I can collect as the collection place is no longer at the same place the unsigned for post goes back to and has to be transported over night.

However techspec, if your items make such a profit that you can afford to spend 95p on a poor service even where items only go for £10 then well done to you. I am far too mean to give RM all those 95ps, but then of course I don't consider my buyers to be scammers like you appear to do.
