British gas £79 fixed repairs
Hi all ,today I discoverd that my Worchester bosh greenstar 28i juniour condensing boiler has a broken expansion tank (pressurisation unit ) .
Can I call British gas and tell them the fault and have them replace it under there fixed £79 repair deal or is it not that simple ?
I have priced the replacment unit at £65 but the boiler needs to be removed to replace it and I am not gas safe trained .
Any advice please

Give them a call. What have you got to lose? (other than £79 possibly)
Let us know how you get on0 -
i called regarding this its as follows
£79 to diagnose fault
£199 for the first two hours of work
£409 for over two hours work
all includes parts and labour etc....
after being told this i ended the phone call lol0 -
It's a simple job for a local independent GSR RGI.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

If it's not leaking the chances are it's a pretty simple job of just repressurizing it. If it really does need replacing it is usually possible to change it without removal from the wall.0

Thanks for that useful information.
Seems a bit naughty of them though, as a repair (including diagnosis) would seem to cost either £278 or £488 depending on how long it takes.
But according to their website, they will repair your boiler from £79

I wonder what type of boiler repair they offer that only costs £79?
Maybe worth you asking the ASA to investigate?0 -
79 quid will get you something like repressurizing, setting timeclock, recommunicating stats, freeing off stuck trvs / motorized valves etc or a diagnosis of a part required. It's basically up to 30 mins of work and is well inline, if not cheaper, than the average industry diagnostic fee.0

"from" is the magic word. Same as the opposite "up to". Marketers know well that for some reason most people don't see those magic words.0

If the PV is faulty and cant be re=-pressurised,you;d be better off fitting an ext PV somewhere on the system rather than disassembling the boiler. Incidentally, you dont have to be GSR registered to work on gas where not operating as a business.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
